Police say attack couple were lucky

TWO teenagers attacked in Queen’s Park in Healesville were lucky not to be more seriously injured, according to police.
Yarra Glen police are investigating the assault which took place around midnight on Saturday 17 February.
The couple, a 19-year-old male and an 18-year-old female were assaulted in the park by three males believed to be in their early 20s.
Sgt Richard Coulson attended the incident and said the attack left both victims requiring medical attention for their injuries.
Police were able to locate a suspect on the night but are requesting help from the public to identify the other two men.
Sgt Coulson said they believe the offenders had earlier been at a party in Thomas Road, Healesville.
“It appears the males had provoked the altercation by initially making inappropriate comments to the female,” he said.
“When the male victim has asked them to stop, they have both been assaulted.
“The couple were lucky that their injuries were not more severe.”
He praised the efforts of an off-duty security guard who assisted in police being able to locate one of the suspects in the front yard of a nearby address.
