UPWEY is well and truly ensconced at the top of the table after its win over Eildon Park in the FTGDCA.
The reinvigorated Brendan Heath was the main wicket taker for the Tigers as the Panthers were bowled out for 132, chasing 215.
Cody Morris was the only batsman for the Panthers to make a score of any note. The loss means Eildon Park stays in second spot.
Footballers finally came out great with the bat at the right time of the season making 6/283, successfully pursuing Johnson Park’s 278. Chris Brittain (58) and youngster Luke McComb (54) got the Griffins into a great position before Steve Hart (39 not out) and Andrew Tweddle (31 not out) brought home the win.
A Footballers win next week will see them play finals again while a loss may see them bundled out on percentage.
Ferntree Gully put paid to Belgrave’s finals hopes with Jayden Bradbury (87) ensuring the Blues’ run chase was successful. Muhammad Farrukh (46) and Mark Teofilo (44) provided the support required.
Ferntree Gully will need to win next week and rely on Footballers losing to play finals.
In the remaining games, Knoxfield (6/171) moved from the bottom of the ladder with a good win over Upper Ferntree Gully (166) and the Knights find themselves in the same position as Ferntree Gully, and The Basin will rely on other results for a finals spot.
The Basin defeated Monbulk as Matt Heskes took six wickets for the Huntsmen. Aaron Walter (46) provided some resistance, but the loss has Monbulk on the bottom of the ladder, needing a win next week to avoid relegation
