SAFETY, warmth and comfort are important values that Buddy Bear shares with children.
The Better Buddy mascot was at Coldstream Primary School last week teaching students about caring for others, friendliness, respect, and valuing difference.
Buddy Bear is the mascot of the Better Buddies Program, designed to create friendly and caring school communities where bullying is reduced. Students were able to meet Buddy Bear on Monday 20 February.
Coldstream Primary School welfare co-ordinator Amy Carter said the program was designed to help the ‘buddy system’ where older students looked after the new prep students each year, but she said at Coldstream students would take a whole-school approach.
“The students are encouraged to consistently display the six values of the Better Buddies Program, which also work alongside our school values,” she said.
“It creates a friendly and caring school community where bullying is reduced, promotes positive interaction between students and encourages students to accept each other’s differences.”
