THE search is on for the best cowboys and cowgirls for the third annual Whittlesea Pro-Rodeo.
This year’s event, affiliated with the Australian Professional Rodeo Association, will be held at the Whittlesea showgrounds on Saturday 25 February.
With prize money estimated at $30,000, the very best rodeo stock has been contracted and will include all the big names in saddle bronc and bare-back, along with the toughest bulls in Australia.
The miniature bucking ponies will again be a big drawcard along with five time Australian comedy clown of the year Big Al, who will team up with one of rodeos best known announcers Russell Green to keep the crowds informed and entertained throughout the event.
Rodeo events include steer-wrestling, team-roping saddle-bronc riding, Victorian steer riding championships, ladies breakaway roping, bare-back riding, barrel-racing, miniature ponies, and bull-riding. There will be plenty of thrills and spills after gates open at 2pm, with rodeo action starting at 4pm.
Live country music will commence from 2.30pm and will follow the rodeo through until late, including all the fun of the fair with sideshow alley and stall holders.
Adults tickets are $20, children under 14 years are $10 and kids under five are free.
