WITH two rounds to go in Knox Tavern Cup, this round’s results left every team in contention for finals action with the bottom seven teams separated by six points.
Upwey, the top of the table, suffered a defeat at the hands of Ferntree Gully with the Blues making 179 in reply to the Tigers 127.
Recently arrived Mahummad Farrukh top scored with 47. Farrukh has played 35 first class games in Pakistan with a top score of 145.
Jayden Bradbury (34) and Mark Butters (30) ensured the blues took the points with Brendan Heath taking six wickets.
Eildon Park finished Belgrave off after having them 5/35 last week. Leigh Newey was the only batsman for Belgrave to offer resistance as Steve Pimm and Aaron Powell did the damage with the ball. In their second innings the Panthers were 9/159.
Aaron Walter took six wickets as Monbulk defended their total of 130 against Upper Ferntree Gully.
The Kings were dismissed for 109 leaving them half a game out of the four.
Johnson Park also managed to defend 107 against Knoxfield with Craig Wenham also taking six wickets.
Footballers remain in fourth position despite their loss to the Basin. The Huntsmen dismissed Footballers for 181 in response to their score of 7/304.
Rob Bedford (53) and Leigh Leatham (39) were the best performed with the bat, while Danny Rundle took three wickets for The Basin. A Ferntree Gully Association side will be taking part in Country Week.
