Funds are a go for Stop

NEW funding for touring performances will bring some top shows to the Yarra Ranges’ arts centres.
The Red Stitch Actors Theatre received $25,000 to take its production of Stop on a Victoria-wide tour including Burrinja in Upwey and the Upper Yarra Arts Centre in Warburton.
Meanwhile, Opera Australia’s production of Mozart’s opera Don Giovanni will include a special presentation at the Marysville Community Centre.
Yarra Ranges Council manager of arts, culture and heritage Greg Box said it was important for the Yarra Ranges to get these productions. When the arts centres put on good productions it helps locals see a combination of touring and local product,” he said.
Mr Box said a lot of productions needed help to fund regional tours, but they also require a positive relationship between those who produce it – the actors, the government and the arts centres.
Upcoming shows can be found under events on the Yarra Ranges Council website at www.yarraranges.vic.gov.au.
