DISABILITY rights campaigner Dr George Taleporos will lead workshops on advocacy and achieving change for Yarra Ranges residents with a disability in February and March.
Yarra Ranges Council is hosting the free course, for people with a disability and their carers, which will be held on Fridays, 17 and 24 February and 2 and 10 March, at Mooroolbark.
Yarra Ranges MetroAccess Officer, Donna Donovan said the course aimed to empower residents and their carers by developing understanding of the principles of advocacy and discussing strategies for change.
Topics covered will include legal and human rights legislation, skills and techniques for organising successful systemic advocacy campaigns and effective participation on disability issue forums.
