SIT BACK and relax in Cunningham Hotel’s beer garden this summer or enjoy the open fireplace for those chillier nights.
The Yarra Junction hotel has a wide assortment of food, beverages and entertainment in a family friendly atmosphere.
It has also reached greater community heights after bartender Adrian Lowrie won the Leukemia Foundation’s UGLY Bartender of the Year, with the community helping to raise almost $12,000.
Cunninghams’ owner Trotter, as the locals know him, said 2011 was a great year for the hotel and he invited the community to make 2012 even better.
He said they were already gearing up to do bigger and better for this year’s Good Friday Appeal with a fundraising weekend on Saturday 31 March and Sunday 1 April.
“We had a lot of first timers in last year and the majority have been back bringing new people with them,” he said. “We get plenty of complements about the food and the atmosphere.”
With two excellent chefs, Trotter said the food was consistent with new items introduced seasonally.
“We take advantage of using seasonal and local produce to give the regular customers a bit of variety,” he said.
“But we’re told we’ve got the best parmas in the valley.”
A choice of a regular, tandoori, Aussie, Mexican or sweet chilli chicken parmigiana will get the tastebuds tingling but there’s plenty of choice on the menu and meals are served all day on weekends. Patrons have been enjoying a variety of live blues bands on Saturday and Sunday afternoons in the beer garden, which will continue throughout summer.
Cunninghams Hotel also holds “chase the joker” on Thursday nights and karaoke on the first Thursday of the month.
“I love the fact that people who come, no matter what age, everyone has a go and has fun with it,” he said.
