AFTER consecutive wet weekends, Monbulk Cricket Club teams were finally able to take to the field in anger on Saturday.
All sides played one-dayers, with the seconds and the under-13s the best performed – both winning thrilling contests. The firsts and under-17s both had their first loss for the season.
The seconds chased down Knoxfield’s 149-run total with one ball to spare. Rick Lamers and Aaron Bowen both took three wickets. Jason Dekkers was named man-of-the-match for his 2/26 and 19 not out – playing an integral role in the Hawks’ victory.
The under-13s scored 91 in their tussle against Aura Vale, before restricting them to 6/80 to win by 11 runs. Lachlan Hill scored 20 not out, while Travis Wills made 17 and took 2/2.
An awards night for both the junior and senior teams was held on Saturday and in two weeks, the Monbulk Cricket Club Christmas party will be held at the Log Cabin for seniors, juniors Milo cricket kids and their families.
