Lighting the way

THE new traffic lights at Seville which have yet to be turned on are causing problems for motorists, say residents.
They say the inactive lights are making it dangerous for cars trying to exit Link Road and Bell Street.
Motorists are being forced to push into traffic going along Warburton Highway because lights aren’t yet stopping the vehicles for them. The project is being managed and delivered by the Shire of Yarra Ranges.
VicRoads Metro South East Regional Director Duncan Elliot said some work still needed to be completed by the council before the traffic signals could be turned on at the Warburton Highway and Link Road/Bell Street intersection.
“The existing pedestrian crossing, located approximately 100 metres from the intersection, will remain at its current location,” he said. “It will be linked to the new signals to ensure both sites operate efficiently. The pedestrian crossing has been updated with new signal lanterns.”
