A CD which sings the praises of Healesville will be launched next month.
The CD has six songs all about Healesville, one piano composition inspired by Healesville’s beauty and two poems about Healesville.
“Everyone who has contributed to the production of the CD has donated their songs, artwork, graphic design and recording studio time which was really heartening and confirms my belief in our beautiful community,” said Catherine Nolan, well-known singer/songwriter and producer of the CD.
Five local community groups have donated money to cover the costs of duplicating the CD – Healesville Historical Society, Healesville Football Club, The Rotary Club of Healesville, The Healesville Music Festival Musicians Collective and Yarra Valley Community Health.
Ms Nolan said they, in return, will receive copies of the CD that they can then sell to raise money for their groups or donate them to other community groups for fund raising.
“Healesville Rotary Club will donate their CDs to the local scout group and high school, so you can see community groups will benefit from the CD and as well as it’s ability to promote local musos and the town of Healesville in general,” Ms Nolan said.
Musicians featured on the CD are well known Melbourne musicians who grew up in Healesville – the Baylor Brothers, performing their tribute to Healesville; My Mountain Home, The Hannaford’s have contributed the title track to their recent CD, Down the Line, David Johnston and Ewan Cloonan perform a C J Dennis poem Heat Wave, members of the Dukes of Despair; Kim Farrell and Tony McKay back Ms Nolan on My Town a song written about her love of growing up in Healesville, and Alex Legg who loves visiting Healesville.
Lynda Warick Hynes backed by local community singing group, Singing For Your Soul’s Sake performs a beautiful original, In The Hills of Healesville.
The CD includes a beautiful piano composition by a fairly new Healesville resident, Kelvin Kerney and poems by Margaret Fuller and Elizabeth Johnston.
Ms Nolan said all the musicians except the Baylor Brothers will be performing at the CD launch on 4 December at Mocha and Lime in Healesville.
Ms Nolan said the CD is the first of a series she hopes to produce for Healesville.
“I hope to inspire many more song writers and poets to contribute and next year I hope to include a booklet featuring local visual artists’ Healesville inspired works as well, with all profits from the sales donated to Healesville community initiatives.
Tickets to the launch are $15 which includes a copy of the CD and all money raised from the launch will be donated to Catie’s Porphyria Awareness group.
