THE Yarra Valley’s new CFA recruits have started learning the necessary skills for bushfire survival.
The 23 District 13 recruits were taken through a practical training day recently when they were taught safety and survival skills for bushfire fire fighting.
Training co-ordinator Andrew Webber said it was one of four modules the recruits must pass before being allowed to travel on a CFA tanker on the fire ground.
The remaining modules they will learn in the coming months are how to combat fires, getting to fires and communicating at fires.
