CAR enthusiasts were in their element at the Mountain District Car and Bike Show held at Healesville Showgrounds on 27 March.
Among the almost 600 vehicles on display were rusty old warriors, showy Yank tanks loaded down with glistening chrome and a head-turning Lotus sports.
Organiser Jaqueline Sheppard said the show was their best ever, attracting around 3000 visitors and raising $10,000.
The show gave enthusiasts of all ages the opportunity to drool over their “I wish” cars, marvel at the ingenuity of the pioneers of the industry and, best of all, talk to the owners.
Healesville scouts, hospital and high school and Monbulk’s Car26 youth program have received donations from the proceeds of this year’s show and Ms Sheppard said there was also money put aside for sleeping bags for people sleeping rough in Yarra Ranges Shire.
The show has raised $36,000 over four years and has great potential to do even better … with some support.
“We were very encouraged by the feedback from visitors and exhibitors who really want to see the show continue,” Ms Sheppard said.
She said the show would run in Healesville next year but they need volunteers to help get it organised and help on the day as well as sponsors and donations for the auction.
