Scrubbed off shave

WALTER Lawrence thinks raising $500 from three years of growth is a good effort.
Mr Lawrence took part in the World’s Greatest Shave on Saturday 12 March and is still collecting donations.
The Woori Yallock man said he trooped down to the local hairdressers armed with his receipt book full of promised funds and asked staff to “shave it all off”.
Mr Lawrence said he began to grow the beard after working on his daughter’s farm in Bairnsdale three years ago.
“I went with my son-in-law to clear the property and came back with scrub on my face and haven’t touched it since,” he said.
“The girls in the bank told me I look 10 years younger without it.”
Mr Lawrence was glad his facial hair was now low maintenance, “it was a nuisance working on the farm and having to wash it nightly”.
“My wife’s happy to have it off too, she told me it was like kissing a scrubbing brush,” he laughed.
