THE YVCA finally returned to action on the weekend after yet another week of rain delays and all-around frustration.
In round 10 of the D. J. Strachan Shield, Healesville dismissed Woori Yallock for 140.
Michael King was easily the pick of the batsman with an undefeated 73, while James Shambrook with 3/15 was the best of the Healesville bowling attack.
In reply, Healesville’s batting line-up capitulated, dismissed for 108. John Robinson’s 59 not out was not enough as Michael King completed a memorable match with 4/13.
Hoddles Creek’s 190 proved just enough to stave off a fighting Coldstream outfit. Brenton Derix made a superb 115 for Hoddles Creek while Michael Kincaid took 5/24.
Coldstream reached 8/189 in reply with Chris Dobson making 63 and Brenton Derix backed up his batting with a devastating 3/31.
Seville, playing away at Yarra Junction, batted first and was dismissed in the 40th over for 157.
Shane Senior (36) was backed up by Andrew Kay (33) and Leigh Aitkins (26). David Lever was the pick of the Junction bowlers with 3/43.
Yarra Junction passed Seville’s score with four wickets and an over in hand, finishing on 6/165. Brad Jones led the way with a fine 74 not out and was supported by Travis Nightingale (31) and Daniel Lever (29).
Silvan’s 6/124 proved just enough for Wandin’s gallant 120. Luke Painter was the stand-out for Silvan with 64, while Troy Murphy kept Wandin in the hunt with 43. Silvan’s win has them back in the hunt for the ladder lead.
Warburton hosted Mount Evelyn and won comfortably, making 171 and dismissing the visitors for 119.
