Josh rides like the wind

By Mara Pattison-Sowden
BADGER Creek rider Joshua Callan fought hard to come in third in the latest round of the National Champbikx Series and Probikx Tour.
Riders were on cyclone watch as rounds five and six were hosted in Bunbury, Western Australia.
The competition was supposed to take place over two days, but Cyclone Bianca loomed off the coast, causing officials to run both rounds back to back on Saturday 29 January.
It was an eventful day of racing as riders contended with the wind and rain on the recently refurbished track that has been built to international standard with two pro sections.
Round five delivered wins to 2008 Olympians Luke Madill and Nicole Callisto in the Elite categories, and current Probikx Men’s Series leader Brian Kirkham proved too strong in round six as did Caroline Buchanan who bounced back from a crash in round five.
Callan came sixth in round five, but fared better in round six when he finished in third place with a time of 39.541 minutes.
The 20-year-old is ranked 30 in the world with 346 points.
Callan started riding with Lilydale BMX club at the age of seven.
