IT was a late start for the boys from Killer Queen, but the crowd at Rochford didn’t mind.
Those who could park themselves under a tree did – while everybody else piled on the sunscreen for the 31 degree day.
Killer Queen shared the stage on Sunday with Melbourne DJ Stick Mareebo for the Midsumma Festival.
The Queensland tribute band couldn’t go on stage without their gear, which had been misplaced by Qantas carriers, while the wife of one of the band members, had just gone into labour for the birth of their first child.
“We’ve had an exciting start to the day,” lead singer John Blunt told the crowd.
A Brisbane actor and musician, Blunt bears an uncanny resemblance to iconic superstar and Queen frontman Freddie Mercury. And the moustache is even the real deal.
With hype and energy, Killer Queen brought some of the classic Queen songs to life, including We Will Rock You, Crazy Little Thing Called Love, I Want to Break Free, Fat Bottomed Girls and Another One Bites the Dust.
