MORE than 2000 people attended last year’s Community Safety Day at Lillydale Lake and the Yarra Ranges Council is hoping even more residents take the opportunity this year.
The 2010 Community Safety Day will be held on Sunday 14 November, once again at Lillydale Lake, from 10am till 3pm.
This year’s event will feature displays and demonstrations by the Country Fire Authority (CFA), Victoria Police, State Emergency Service (SES) and the council, among others.
The focus will be on highlighting what people need to know to stay fire safe this summer.
Residents will be able to get advice about developing their own Bushfire Survival Plan and will be able to determine how safe their home is in a fire.
Among the emergency and safety demonstrations will be the police helicopter, fire trucks, the Jaws of Life, Your emergency services @ Work, Red Cross, Animal Aid and road safety.
And, of course, Captain Koala will be there for the kids.
The Community Safety Day, is perfectly timed to ensure Yarra Ranges residents have the information they need, or advice on where to get it, in the lead-up to the fire season.
