Planning days to get set for the risk period

CFA activities throughout Fire Action Week will be building up to a planning day around the state on Sunday 17 October.
Planning day will be held in four locations in Yarra Ranges and Cardinia shires between 11am and 3pm as listed below.
Kalorama – Mount Dandenong Primary School, Farndons Road, Mt Dandenong.
Warburton – Warburton Brigade,
Warburton Highway.
Gembrook – Gembrook Primary School, 50 Main Street, Gembrook.
Narre Warren North (part of local Family Awareness Day) – Narre Warren North Recreation Centre, A’Beckett Road.
Co-ordinated through the CFA alongside the strategic communications branch at the Department of Justice, Planning Day will encourage residents in high-risk areas to create a fire plan and learn about their local fire risk.
The objectives are:
•To provide participants with a fire plan template which they will begin to complete;
•To have people leave the event with a higher awareness of their personal risk, and
•To encourage participants become involved in a Community Fireguard Group/Fire Ready Victoria meeting.
The key messages are:
•People should come along and learn more about the risk in their area;
•People can learn to write a fire plan, and
•The focus is on planning to leave early.
Representatives of the relevant agencies will hand out a fire plan template and participants can obtain advice to help them with their fire plan at one of the several ‘talking stations’ – tables manned by different fire/local agencies.
It is anticipated that as well as the talking stations manned by CFA, DSE, DEECD and local council representatives, there may be a computer available for CFA members to discuss individual fire risk, with people using Google Earth to view their house.
