PARENTS, grandparents and older siblings went back to school this month to join in student activities for Literacy and Numeracy Day.
Yarra Junction Primary School students played Masterchef, created tessellations and acted in theatre sports on Wednesday 15 September.
Literacy coach Rebecca Sprague said students had a lot of fun and many of their visitors stayed the whole day.
‘At least half of the students had their parents, grandparents, older and younger siblings visiting at some point during the day,’ she said.
Students chose five of 15 activities including the ‘Maths Greatest Race’, creating Vokis, Reader’s Theatre, cartoon movie making and dice footy to participate in during the day.
Ms Sprague said the students had the chance to learn with different teachers and different peers.
‘We wanted to show parents what the children do, and things they can do at home to assist their child academically,’ she said.
‘We also invited 2011 Prep parents to attend so they could build relationships with other parents and staff at the school.’
