Monbulk into Grand

MONBULK won through to the grand final against Woori Yallock at Wandin next week when it defeated South Belgrave in their preliminary final at Silvan at the weekend.
The first quarter saw South Belgrave make the most of the early play but Monbulk managed to take charge in the last five minutes. It constantly snatched the ball away in the centre square and with sound team play and accurate kicking registered three goals.
The second and third quarters were desperate tug-of-war contests with neither side giving an inch. Both had scoring opportunities repelled, but the constant drive from Patrick Barge, Travis Wills and Daniel Cleary gave Monbulk the edge.
South Belgrave kept coming but found it difficult to get past the likes of Scott Bennett, Jaidyn Ducrow and Kenneth Beecroft.
Logan Dunn popped through his second goal and Monbulk withstood the pressure applied in the last quarter. Every individual played their part but teamwork was the key in seeing Monbulk through to the grand final.
Monbulk 4.2 (26) d South Belgrave 2.2 (14)
Awards: Daniel Cleary (best on ground), Flynn Trewavis, Jackson Haynes, Jayde Eddy, John Badgery, Logan Dunn, Hamish Emmett, Jaidyn Ducrow.
