OLINDA stayed in its game against Mount Evelyn right up until the last quarter thanks to some extraordinarily straight kicking. At three quarter time, Mount Evelyn held just a 13-point lead despite having 26 scoring shots to 13. Mount Evelyn’s kicking woes continued in the final quarter booting 4.7. But Olinda only managed 2.2, which saw Mount Evelyn triumphant by four goals. Mount Evelyn will go into next week’s game against Upwey Tecoma with great confidence. Olinda’s season is over but it surprised many with its form and should be an even greater force in 2011.
Mount Evelyn 14.22 (106) d Olinda Ferny Creek 13.4 (82).
Best: Mount Evelyn: James Charge, Troy Hancock and Christopher Murphy (4 goals). Olinda Ferny Creek: Andrew Greenall, Garratt McDonald and Patrick Rosier.

WARBURTON put in a terrific four-quarter performance, never giving Olinda a look in. Warby jumped out to a 34-point lead by half time and the end result was never in doubt. Olinda was more competitive in the second half but Warby still managed to stretch its lead and run out comfortable eight-goal winners.
Warburton Millgrove 13.9 (87) d Olinda Ferny Creek 5.9 (39).
Best: Warburton Millgrove: Wayne Williams, Jarred Barber and Jackson Jones. Olinda Ferny Creek: Alex Taranto, Steve Gannell and Stephen Flutter.

UPWEY only managed two goals against Mount Evelyn in a scrappy opening term but its opponents could only scrounge two behinds. At quarter time, Upwey held a 14-point lead. The second quarter remained scrappy with Mount Evelyn booting two goals to one and at half time it was Upwey by 11 points. Upwey blew the game open in the third term, playing hard running football. This was reflected on the scoreboard with a five-goal quarter. Mount Evelyn had no answers and could only manage one behind for the term. Mount Evelyn managed to outscore Upwey by three points in the final quarter but it was always going to be an Upwey victory.
Upwey Tecoma 10.16 (76) d Mount Evelyn 5.5 (35).
Best: Upwey Tecoma: Billy Duncan, Glen Stephens and Simon Bicknell.

UPWEY and Monbulk battled in an entertaining, seesawing affair. Monbulk looked the slicker side early and got out to a 14-point lead at quarter time before Upwey bounced back in the second term and reduced that margin to just five points at the half. Upwey stamped its authority on the game in the third, booting five goals to one and taking a handy 20-point lead into the last quarter. Monbulk threw everything it had at Upwey in the last quarter but it wasn’t enough, going down by 11 points.
Upwey Tecoma 11.7 (73) d Monbulk 9.8 (62).

KINGLAKE and Seville fought out an epic game that actually looked all over at the half and again at three quarter time. Kinglake was superb in the first two quarters, holding Seville to just two goals while it piled on 10 and jumped out to a 51-point lead. Seville outscored Kinglake in the third but only by 10 points as it still looked like a comfortable win for the Lakers. The last quarter was enthralling as Seville, out of nowhere, found some of its best form. Suddenly, Kinglake was on the back foot. It could only score one behind for the quarter while Seville booted six majors and looked as though it was going to pinch an unlikely victory. Unfortunately for Seville, time was its enemy and it fell an agonising two points short.
Kinglake 14.9 (93) d Seville 13.13 (91).
Best: Kinglake: James Atkins (6 goals), Luke Nott and Adam Butterworth. Seville: Matthew Crowle, Dean Troyahn and Leigh Aitkins.

YARRA Glen got on top of Seville after a five-goals-to-two second quarter. Yarra Glen went to the long break with a four-goal lead but only outscored Seville by one point in the third quarter. Yarra Glen’s defence was superb in the final term, holding Seville goalless while it added four majors to come away with a great 46-point win and progress through to the grand final.
Yarra Glen 14.5 (89) d Seville 6.7 (43).
Best: Yarra Glen: Liam Bull (7 goals), Dale Batten and Shaun Moate. Seville: Rowan Collins, Lachlan Mountjoy and Ben Costigan.
KINGLAKE had to bounce back after last week’s debacle against Seville, and despite losing the game, it produced a far better quality of football and made Emerald work to the final siren for its victory. Emerald led from start to finish but there were only four points in it at the last change. Kinglake looked like it would run out of puff in the last term and Emerald took advantage of that, finishing with a three-goal-to-one quarter and coming away with a 17-point win. Emerald will now take on Seville with the winner to play Yarra Glen in the grand final.
Emerald 11.6 (72) defeated Kinglake 8.7 (55).
Best: Emerald: Steven Paull, David Paull and Marcus Lorkin. Kinglake: Benjamin Munn, Toby Brooks and Jamie Chalmers.

SEVILLE is the hot favourite to take out the flag but Yarra Glen certainly didn’t let them have it all their own way in their game. Yarra Glen was always threatening but Seville slowly got on top, and if not for some inaccuracy, possibly would have taken control a lot earlier. Seville has advanced to the grand final while Yarra Glen will take on Emerald for the second time in three weeks in a last chance final.
Seville 13.14 (92) d Yarra Glen 11.3 (69).
Best – Seville: Thomas Groen, Dean Cecere (6 goals) and Michael Gavric. Yarra Glen: Jayden Erickson, Sean Beath and Callum Orren.
AFTER an even first half, it was Emerald that got right on top with an eight goal to one second half to win by a handsome 52 points. Emerald set their win up with a five goal to one third quarter before holding Kinglake goal-less in the last. Emerald came away with a big confidence boost, going into their match against Yarra Glen next week.
Emerald 13.8 (86) d Kinglake 4.10 (34).
Best: Emerald: Brody Stephenson, Matthew Dompietro and Nick Green. Kinglake: Jacob styles, Scott Le Poidevin and Tyler McDonald.
