THE iPods and iPads are pretty cool, and so are the Apple Mac computers, but Grade 4 student Jack is more impressed with his school’s new windows.
“It’s all climate controlled, so we got distracted at first watching the windows move up and down on their own,” he said.
Jack and his fellow classmates at Yarra Junction Primary School have been enjoying their new multi-space learning centre since the start of August.
Principal Chris Thomas was also excited to show it off.
“Without the BER we never would have got this. We’ve been screaming for state-of-the-art facilities for decades,” he said.
Yarra Junction Primary School was awarded Building the Education Revolution funding in the second round of offers, and despite a few changes to the designs, it has taken less than a year to design and build the nearly $3 million classrooms.
“This template fits perfectly here – we had two portables before from 1970s and a toilet block from the 1960s,” Mr Thomas said.
“We’ve become one of the first 50 schools in the state (out of 1200) to be finished.”
