YARRA Glen Pony Club will have a new cross-country track, thanks to a $20,000 grant from Yarra Ranges Council’s Community Grants program.
Cr Jeanette McRae and mayor Cr Len Cox presented the grant at a morning tea to thank the government departments, business organisations and individuals who have helped get the club back on its feet after the 2009 bushfires.
Minister for Sport James Merlino was there with daughter Sophie to see what the club offered families in the local community. The club received a State Government grant of $20,000 towards rebuilding its horse yards and show jumping course after the fires.
Cr McRae said the club was indicative of what community is all about and said the shire had great pleasure in contributing towards the cross country course.
