Memo: Brod’s back

By Kath Gannaway
AUSTRALIAN music legend Broderick Smith has worn many hats – he has been a clerk, storeman, soldier, advertising copywriter, graphic artist and actor.
It is a singer-songwriter, however, that he has made his name.
In the early ’70s he helped The Dingoes, the legendary rock group that is the main inspiration behind the modern country rock explosion.
On 28 August at the Healesville Memorial Hall, Broderick will be joined by long-time music accomplice Matt Walker and Ashley Davies as he brings his unique blend of country rock, rhythm and blues and bush music to the Yarra Valley.
Broderick’s concert is the third in Yarra Ranges Council’s Live @ Memo Hall series with Mick Thomas and Friends returning to Healesville on 2 October and funny-man Damian Callinan at the Memo with his Cave to the Rave concert on 13 November.
To book for Broderick Smith, phone Healesville on 5965 3528 or Upper Yarra Arts Centre on 5966 4500.
And you could be there for no cost.
Live @ Memo Hall is giving away three doubles passes to the Broderick Smith concert.
The tickets are valued at $48 a double.
To be in the running, telephone 5965 3528 after 9.30am on Tuesday, 24 August. No early callers.
