SITTING second on the ladder, Upwey Tecoma defeated Gembrook Cockatoo comfortably at the weekend 62 – 25. Having won their past few games, Upwey cemented their spot in second place, still two points clear of third placed Wandin. Although they won’t be playing finals this season, the Gembrook has shown improvement in recent weeks and solid progress throughout the season.
Having lost their previous match against Upwey Tecoma, Olinda Ferny Creek enjoyed a good win over Woori Yallock at the weekend, 60 – 15. The visiting side was on top from the get-go, relishing in the conditions and shooting accurately.
Warburton Millgrove’s finals hopes are slipping away as they suffered a heavy defeat at the hands of Wandin, 59 – 26. Sitting just outside the top five, two points behind Healesville, Warby will need to win their last few matches and hope that Healesville don’t.
In a top-of-the-table clash, reigning premiers Mount Evelyn continued their excellent run in 2010 – remaining the competition’s only undefeated team. Defeating Healesville 44 – 23 in a very dominant performance, Mount Evelyn now sits 14 points clear of second placed Upwey Tecoma and are the team to beat come finals time.

SITTING first and second on the ladder respectively, Seville met Powelltown at home on the weekend. Powelltown, the reigning premiers, came away with the four points to win comfortably 62 – 36 in a dominant performance. With this win, Powelltown now sits two games clear of both Seville and Yea.
Surging late in the season, Emerald defeated Yarra Junction in a very one-sided match. Proving they’re contenders for the flag, Emerald won 68 – 25. Although they are currently sitting fourth on the ladder, they’re still the only team to have beaten Powelltown this season.
Having won their previous game against Yarra Junction, Yea celebrated a good win over Thornton Eildon at the weekend, 69 – 28. Although Thornton Eildon won’t be playing finals this season, the side is a much improved one with its skills improving as each week goes by. Playing at home at the weekend, Alexandra enjoyed a good win over Kinglake in a close game that eventually saw the home side take control in the last final quarter. Winning 30 – 16 in a low-scoring match, Kinglake struggled at times in a game riddled with poor passing and inaccurate shooting.
In the most exciting match of the round, Belgrave defeated a defiant Yarra Glen side to win 44 – 43. Belgrave has been playing great netball in recent weeks so this result was no surprise.
Belgrave is now off the bottom of the ladder, with Thornton Eildon below them with six points.
