THE Monbulk women’s reserves suffered a frustrating loss at the hands of Bayswater, going down 1-2 at the weekend.
The reserves excelled in the first half, with Alex Gardner scoring the goal.
Monbulk was one up at half-time but lost its intensity in the second half, leading to a Bayswater goal. Bayswater put the reserves under the pump, scoring another goal in the last two minutes of the game to take the win. Mia Kirkham was best on ground.
The under-14 Pumas defeated the Knox Strikers 3-2. Knox scored the first goal within the opening minute, putting the Pumas’ defence under the pump. Monbulk then switched on, holding Knox to a 1-0 half-time scoreline. The Strikers scored again in the first five minutes of the second half. The Pumas then stepped up their attack with Michael Park scoring three goals to seal the win.
The under-nine Scorpions drew with Eastern United 1-1. The Scorpions played well, displaying good passing skills and making the most of their opportunities.
Dylan Allan scored an amazing goal from near half-way by lobbing the ball over the keeper’s head.
The Scorpions had more chances throughout the game but were unable to convert. United scored in the second half to draw the game.
The under-10 Hawks played one of their better games of the season with a 1-1 draw against the Blackburn Soccer Dogs.
The first half saw the Hawks play a mostly defensive game, blocking all of Blackburn’s shots on goal. The Hawks then dominated play in the second half, attacking strongly. Aidan Jamieson was adjudged player of the match for his impenetrable keeping in the first half and for the goal he kicked in the second.
