THE Swinburne Kilsyth Lady Cobras have signed head coach Cheryl Chambers to a contract extension for the 2011 SEABL season.
Ms Chambers led her team to a 14-8 record in her first season at the helm.
Association president Malcolm Allison was full of praise for Ms Chambers in announcing her contract extension.
“Cheryl has brought a new level of professionalism to Kilsyth,” he said.
“She is an outstanding teacher of the game and has had a massive impact at all levels of the club.”
Ms Chambers described her delight in being offered a new deal.
“I am excited to be returning in 2011. I have enjoyed this year and believe we have started to build something,” Ms Chambers said.
One of the key reasons Ms Chambers was retained is her connection with junior and D-League programs and her willingness to bring younger players into the SEABL system. Kilsyth management is particularly impressed with the trust shown in young starting point guard, Jordyn O’Shea.
“I am keen to continue working with the players and develop the culture, while ensuring the development of the juniors in the club,” Ms Chambers said.
Ms Chambers will spend the off-season working as an assistant to head coach Mark Wright with the Dandenong Rangers WNBL side.
