Cash for SES

YARRA Ranges Council voted last week to provide $45,400 to SES units in the shire, matching the state’s allocation to the volunteer run units.
Lilydale will get $14,363, Healesville $11,674, and Upper Yarra $14,363.
Emerald SES, which is located in the neighbouring Cardinia Shire but which operates within Yarra Ranges boundaries, will receive $5000.
Cr Chris Templer said the matching funding to the units recognised the contribution of the SES to the shire and its residents.
“We have an amazing culture in supporting people when in need. This is a way of looking to see groups like the SES get as big a bucket (of money) as they can,” he said.
Cr Samantha Dunn said she was pleased to see Emerald included.
“They are outside the municipality but they do a lot of work in our municipality – this recognises that,” she said.
