THERE is a very good reason for charitable organisations in Victoria to applaud the old Melbourne/Sydney rivalry.
It seems Sydney’s 60-plus generation are much more charitable than their Melbourne counterparts when it comes to remembering those less fortunate in their wills. So, there’s a challenge worth persuing!
The research by Include a Charity, a non-profit working group of some of Australia’s leading charities showed residents in New South Wales are more likely to consider leaving a bequest.
According to the organisation, there are many ways in which people can behave charitably – donating money or time to a worthy cause or giving back to their local communities. However, leaving a gift to a charity is not only an easy way to make a difference it can be done without affecting current finances. It is also simple, quick and inexpensive to have a will drafted professionally to include a charity.
Include a Charity is encouraging people to recognise the generosity of those around them and consider the ways, including a bequest, in which they too might want to contribute to charity.
Include a Charity has free information packs about wills and bequests. To arrange for an information pack, or for further information phone 1800 400 300 or visit www.includeacharity.com.au
