Auction of hope

By Monique Ebrington
HOPE for Haiti will be a silent auction and supper evening at the Liberty Family Church in Healesville.
The auction will be held from 7.30pm to 10pm on Friday 26 February and there will be plenty of local goods and services available to bid on.
Pastor John Meadth said that the evening will be held in support of the Child Hope International and Heartline Ministries as they work to meet the needs of the Haitian people devastated by the earthquakes on 12 January and its aftershocks.
He said that his son and daughter-in-law, who up until six months ago spent three years volunteering as teachers and orphanage workers in Haiti, will be speaking on the night.
“They’ll be able to share their experiences working with the impoverished community of Port Au Prince,” Pastor Meadth said.
“My son Rodney has also just returned from inspecting the earthquake damage in the orphanage that they were working in.”
He said that since their return to the United States, where they live, they have worked towards raising funds for the orphanage in Port Au Prince. All funds raised on the night will go directly back into the orphanage.
