HEALESVILLE Cricket Club will be running a great gala weekend for the community from Friday 26 to Sunday 28 February.
The activities kick off from 6pm on Friday at Queen’s Park for the heated Twenty20 match between Healesville Football Club and Healesville Cricket Club.
Healesville Football Club is the inaugural champion, holding the title won last year against the cricket club.
Cricket club vice-president, and captain of the Twenty20 side Trevor Oates said that the club would not be robbed of the title this year.
Trevor said the cricket club was not playing its best team, as it had some of its best players in the finals the next day.
“We’re going to make sure we’re going to win this year … even if we have to cheat!” Trevor joked.
Healesville Football Club member, and captain of the Twenty20 cricket match Luke Barclay said that the club worked hard to win last year’s match.
“I think we took it pretty seriously last year and it paid off,” Luke said.
“I don’t think we taught them a bit of a lesson.”
The main event for the weekend will be held at Saturday 27 February at the Lilydale International.
At the event, which begins at 7pm, the Healesville Cricket Club’s Team of Century will be named with current and past members all eligible for selection.
The party will continue on Sunday 28 February with an informal brunch at the clubrooms from 10.30am.
Former and current Healesville Cricket Club members are encouraged to come along and meet up with some old friends and team-mates as a great way to complete the gala weekend.
