Prime of place

PAINTINGS by Healesville Primary School students have been well received by the general public, as they hang brushed up alongside photographs, relics and other items recovered from the Black Saturday bushfires.
More than 20 pieces of work from Grades 1 to Grade 6 students have been included in the exhibition in the Melbourne Museum.
Melbourne Museum and Museum Victoria spokeswoman Lynnette Foo said the student paintings that depict their experiences of the recent bushfires had been well received when they were launched on Sunday 10 January.
“The exhibition has just been fantastic,” Ms Foo said.
“Because of the school holidays we’ve been getting a lot of kids coming and having a look through the gallery.
“I think they are really relating to the work done by younger people, as well as their own personal experience of the bushfires.”
“The Healesville Primary School students have been great and they are just so proud that their work is on display.”
The exhibition also features a collection of personal stories in the form of photographs, video footage, interviews and personal accounts from people in Marysville, Kinglake, the shire of Murrindindi and other bushfire-affected regions.
The Victorian Bushfires Collection will feature at the Melbourne Museum until the end of the month.
