MISSING toy dog Wooey has been reunited with his Chum Creek family, in time for Christmas.
Wooey disappeared early in November and his three-year-old owner Sarah Williams has been desperate to get him back.
Sarah and her mother Moira had been running errands around Healesville on the day Wooey went missing.
Mrs Williams said while she had contacted the places they visited and put up ‘lost’ posters around town, the family had not been able to find their beloved Wooey.
Healesville Sanctuary staff member Brenda Collins-Monk said Wooey turned up in the sanctuary’s lost property a few days after Mrs Williams call.
“We had a call that he was missing, but we had no idea where he was at that stage,” Mrs Collins-Monk said.
“While he was handed in a couple of days later we didn’t have the contact details to call Moira.
“I wanted to get him back to them because I could tell that he was sad.
“He just sat in the lost property box slumped over.
“It was weeks after he was handed in that I was in the post office and saw the ‘lost’ posters.”
Mrs Williams said the family, especially Sarah, was thrilled to be reunited with their ‘wandering Wooey’.
“Sarah doesn’t need any presents this year,” Mrs Williams said.
“That’s the only thing she wanted this Christmas, to get Wooey back.
“So for her Santa has come early.”
