A NEW gallery in Healesville gets to the heart of work created by 16 local artists.
Heart Gallery opened earlier this month bringing together artists working across 10 art disciplines as part of the new Healesville Art Alliance (HAA).
The artists have come together under the guidance of Healesville artist Christine Cafarella-Pearce, whose Looking Glass Gallery has morphed into Heart Gallery, the home of HAA. The gallery’s mission is to promote and sell the work of regional artists.
Ms Cafarella-Pearce said the alliance and the development of the gallery grew from the very successful Yarra Valley Open Studios weekend.
“Many of the visitors to the region’s artists’ studios asked where they could buy the art.
“In response, 16 artisans have come together to create a much needed art sales space in the Healesville region,” she said.
Ms Cafarella-Pearce said Heart Gallery aims to bring to the public eye a refreshing display of artistic diversity.
“Artworks include paintings, photography, ceramics, limestone sculpture, textile works and creative jewellery and our Heart Gallery artists’ energy and motivation, is consistent with their name,” she said.
“They are pumping with enthusiasm and great ideas.”
Heart Gallery has been seeking quality artists and now has a waiting list for artists wishing to be part of its future expansion plans.
The new gallery opened on Friday, 4 December, and will be open from Wednesday to Sunday each week with visitors able to meet with one of the participating artists on trading days.
The gallery is at 43 Maroondah Highway, Healesville.
