MARTIN Yeats (7) is the club champion at Emerald Golf Club with a three round gross score of 228.
His steady golf with glimpses of brilliance was enough to hold off the challenge from playing partner Ross Martin (9), who came in with a total of 235.
These two players also came in one and two in the handicap A Grade championship. Ross Martin took out the handicap event over Yeats with a net score of 206.
In B Grade, Ben Thompson (13) beat the field to win with a gross score of 243 and prove that his ever-diminishing handicap will continue in that direction. Captain Graeme White (14) came in second with 261.
Thompson also took out the double when his net score of 202 took him ahead of Wayne Degering’s (19) 215.
C Grade saw a win for John Carvill (22) who finished with a gross total of 289 to win from David Aitken (26) on 305.
Carvill also won the handicap event with 213 from Jack Keenan (35) who had 225.
In the ladies’ championship, a consistent Lyn Ward won the day, just ahead of Judy Porter who threatened to win all day but fell at the last hurdle.
The daily comp was won by David Aitken, whose net 63 headed the field. Mango Maguire (5) won A Grade on a countback from Dennis Fuller (13) with 68.
Kameron Geeves (14) continued his good form to take out B Grade with a net 68. Wayne Degering, Steve Town and John Carvill were the only others to at least equal their handicaps with 70.
Aitken was nearest the pin on the fourth, Carvill managed the same trick on the seventh and 13th, while Degering was nearest on the 12th and the pro pin on the 18th.
Peter Stevens was nearest the pin after two shots on the 10th and Fuller managed to do the same on the 17th.
Wednesday’s Ostentatiously Fractured Golf (OFG) was a mixed ambrose and foursomes event that allowed Andy Smith and Dave Yates to star when they won with a net score of 66 from Ron Wilson and Peter Jones who scored 74.25. Moss Fuller won the putting comp after play.
