YARRA Valley Racing Centre claimed three prestigious awards at Harness Racing’s night of night – the Harness Racing Victoria awards night.
The ceremony was held at Tabcorp Park in Melton on Saturday 14 November with Yarra Valley Racing continuing its emergence as a harness racing force when it was the most awarded club for the night.
The club took out three awards: Best On-course Promotion, for its work with the Balgownie Estate; Fashions on the Field competition it conducts at its highly successful Melbourne Cup Day meeting; and Best Presented Venue, in recognition of the effort and expenditure Yarra Valley Racing has invested in capital works and on-course facilities over recent years.
In light of the awards, it was not surprising Brett Shambrook was crowned Secretary of the Year for clubs which conducted fewer than 16 meetings.
“The awards were great recognition by the harness racing industry of all club staff and the effort everyone puts in, to ensure our clients have a fantastic Yarra Valley Racing experience,” club CEO Brett Shambrook said.
He said it had been a fantastic few years for the club.
“Added to these awards are the two thoroughbred racing awards the club also recently received, (Victorian Country Racing Club of the Year for the third consecutive year and the Victorian Event of the Year for its Christmas meeting), it shows the club is leading the way and we take great pride in our success” Mr Shambrook said.
To top off a fantastic night for Yarra Valley Racing, club stalwart and inaugural life member Graeme Wood received a Distinguished Service Medal in recognition of a lifetime of service to the harness racing industry.
