AMANDA Duncan and partner Adam Easton take their roles as team manager and assistant coach for Yarra Glen’s premiership under-11s very seriously.
In fact, they have already earmarked a promising recruit for the 2018 under-11s. Baby Ethan was born at 1.02am on 31 August, about 12 hours after the couple celebrated the grand final win at Woori Yallock.
With Amanda booked in to be induced at 4pm on grand final day, the family, including sister Molly, nine, and Sam, 11, had their fingers crossed that the excitement of the day wouldn’t prompt an early arrival.
“To miss the grand final would have been very disappointing after putting in all the work throughout the year,” Amanda said.
“All day I was told not to get too excited … and definitely no jumping up and down,” admitting it was very difficult to stay calm.
The under-11s, including Sam, won by just nine points, laying claim to the club’s first junior premiership since 1987.
While the excited team members, officials and supporters went back to Yarra Glen to celebrate, Adam and Amanda headed off to Monash Medical Centre to make their contribution to the Yarra Glen JFC succession plan.
