Strange Country heads roundup

STEVE Messer’s Strange Country band will feature in the Little Yarra Roundup at Powelltown on 14 November.
The Tamworth Country Music Festival award winners are performing at the Powelltown Hall in a free concert, which is also a tribute to local mother of three Nicky Cavill who died in July.
The Strange Country sound fuses elements of country, bluegrass, blues and gospel into a high-energy performance.
Focusing principally on the original songs of Steve Messer and Steve Camp, the band also dips into a back catalogue of gospel songs and instrumentals drawn from a variety of traditions.
Strange Country plays annually at Tamworth where, as well as performing its own material, the band has played back-up for numerous other artists.
In 1999 and 2000 Steve Messer won the Hohner Golden Harmonica Championship and has judged the competition in subsequent years.
The Little Yarra Roundup is free and promises to be a great opportunity for family, friends and the community to get together for a night of great music and fun.
The concert starts at 7.30pm and refreshments will be available afterwards. For details phone 5966 7242 or 5966 7376.
