THE success of The Smaller Wineries Shortest Lunch held in June has been shared between two local fire brigades.
“We decided that a very important focus of this year’s Smaller Wineries’ Eastern Subaru Shortest Lunch festival would be to raise funds for local brigades through the sale of souvenir wine glasses,” said Smaller Wineries president Wally Zuk.
“We also decided that we would donate the monies raised each year on a rotational basis to two CFA brigades that service the region encompassing our members,” he added.
Mr Zuk presented cheques for $2500 each to the Dixons Creek and Panton Hill brigades at a special lunch held at Millers Estate Winery in Dixons Creek.
When presenting the money he said both brigades had been heavily involved in the firefighting efforts on Black Saturday.
“We hope that these funds will assist in your operations,” he said.
