WITH the Lilydale Show just weeks away on 21 and 22 November, it’s full steam ahead with plans for some new and exciting events.
Heritage is the theme and show secretary Beverley Oliver is promising lots of new and crowd-pulling displays including the dog flyball, sheep dog trials, skateboard competitions, the Fergy tractor club and more.
The Yarra Ranges Regional Showcase, featuring a display of food, wine, agribusiness, accommodation and tourism, will be an opportunity to try out and buy local products and support local businesses. The Yarra Ranges Shire is the official sponsor of the showcase.
“Our Melba Park family precinct will be a flurry of activity with the Lillydale Museum offering free horse and cart rides taking passengers through the streets of Lilydale for an historical story telling experience of the area,” Ms Oliver said. The new dog flyball competition will be held on the Sunday and is a fun activity for participants and spectators.
Melba Park will provide plenty to enjoy with a reptile display, animal nursery, emergency service displays, the entertainment stage and the traditional Show Personality competition. Twilight Entertainment will start at 6pm with sheep dog trials and covers band “Inferno” in the main arena at 7.30pm, followed by a fireworks display.
Some events are held over both days of the show, but others are on one day only, so to make the most of what the show has to offer be sure to pick up a show program, or visit www.lilydaleshow.org.au
