IN splendid weather, golfers at Emerald Golf Club turned up to really play.
With the club championships deferred for a few weeks because of the big wet, some players took the opportunity to strut their stuff without pressure.
Dean Shannon (17) made a mockery of his handicap to finish with 43 stableford points to win the over-all bikkies.
He showed most in B Grade a clean pair of heels, with the unlucky Bouncer Holland (20) coming in next with 40 points.
In A Grade, the status quo of recent weeks has been maintained with the stunningly consistent Ross Martin (10) winning with 38 points from Martin Yeats (7) on 36.
John Carvill (22) was the star in C Grade when his 38 points were enough to greet the judge from Jack Keenan (35) and John Fisher (35) who both posted 35 points.
Graeme Lawler was nearest the pin on the 4th, Ryan Hocking on the 7th and 13th, Kameron Geeves on the 12th and John Carvill rounded out a good day at the office by picking up the pro pin cash on the 18th.
Graeme Fergus was nearest the pin after two shots on the par four 10th and Dean Shannon did the same on the 17th.
Lyn Ward was the star of the young ladies playing in their comp with 37 stableford points from a rather disappointing crew.
Wednesday’s Obviously Faded Golf (OFG) was won by young Mark Lothian who sailed in with 40 stableford points from a field that failed to do themselves justice. The putting comp was won by the hailstones that fell when this comp was attempted.
