THE steam era still holds a fascination for all ages, if the Healesville Railway Heritage Festival is any indication.
Hundreds of people attended the Yarra Valley Railway’s Society’s two-day festival on the weekend of 19 and 20 September with queues for trolley rides each day and plenty to see and do in the railway station precinct.
Working steam road engines including a steam roller, truck and traction engine, wood turning and blacksmith demonstrations, wagon and vintage bus rides, an amazing musical performance on steam whistles and displays by groups including Healesville and Yarra Glen historical societies were all part of the festival fun.
