UPWEY Tecoma played against Wandin this week, to decide who would play Mount Evelyn in the grand final.
The winner was Wandin, by a mere three goals.
It was a close game, where both teams knew what was at stake, however Wandin proved to be too good. The level of play was excellent; both teams deserved to get to the play-off.
For Wandin, Melissa Gardner shot an impressive 28 goals. The opposing defenders had a really difficult time trying to keep her out of the ring. Sharmini Philp had a great game too, shooting 18 goals.
For Upwey, Michelle Tomlinson shot 22 goals, Kiera Rawlings shot 14 and Emma Hedge shot 7. The girls did well in the ring, however they were slightly put off by Wandin’s tight defence.

Wandin will now play Mount Evelyn next week in what should be a brilliant grand final.
Second division

Division Two came to a wrap up this week, with Powelltown playing Emerald in the A Grade grand final.
At quarter time Powelltown had a two-goal lead and it was looking like it was going to be a tight game. However the second quarter was all Powelltown’s – they scored 13 goals to Emerald’s five.
The third quarter was even, but in the fourth quarter the Towners proved why they deserved to win, scoring 10 goals to Emerald’s four.
For Powelltown Samantha Hansen shot 22 goals and Stephanie Broadway contributed with 17 goals.
Emerald’s goal shooters were Bev White with 13 and Kim Walker with 10.

Congratulations to Powelltown which has now won its first netball flag in the YVMDFL netball competition.

The B Grade grand final was played at Woori Yallock this weekend between Yarra Junction and Yarra Glen. Both teams had a massive crowd to show support.
Yarra Junction went in definite favourites, having gone through the season undefeated but Yarra Glen weren’t going to let them have it easy. At quarter time the Thunder held a seven-goal lead, giving Yarra junction a bit of a shock.
Whatever was said at the break worked as the Yarra Junction girls came out firing. They shot 15 goals to Yarra Glen’s six, and went into the half-time break with a two-goal lead.
The third quarter was even, but the last was all Yarra Junction. They shot 14 to Yarra Glen’s three. For the Eagles, Kristy Fletcher shot 22 goals and Stacey Cooper shot 21.
For the Thunder, Lauren Young shot 22 and Rhiannon Bateman shot 7.
