AS the sun shone last Saturday at Emerald Golf Club, Glenn Panting (26) decided it was his turn to shine as well.
His staggering 43 stableford points was easily the best of the C Graders and for the whole field as well. He has been on the cusp of something good for a while and has produced the goods.
The consistent Ross Martin (10) was the top of the tree in A Grade with 39 points and the equally consistent Leigh Morison (15) headed up the B Graders with 38 points.
Paul Farmer had 39 points without worrying the judges while Steve Town, Dean Shannon and Graeme Fergus all managed 37.
Barry Cook was nearest the pin on the 4th, Martin Yeats on the 7th, Ross Martin the 12th, Wayne Degering the 13th and Steve Town won the pro pin on the 18th.
Degering was also nearest after two shots on the 10th and Stuart Courtney did the same deed on the 17th.
Leonie Scott was the leading lady in their comp with 36 points. She showed a predictable welcome return to form.
On Wednesday an American foursome comp was held in which Mick Petrie and Mark Lothian reigned supreme with nett 67 from Bouncer Holland and Ken Hill who managed 68.
The Emerald Plate is up for grabs next Saturday with teams from many other clubs arriving to try to steal the plate away.
