MT EVELYN ended the home-and-away season on top – without a single loss. It will be tough to beat in the finals. Upwey Tecoma was second with three losses. Wandin finished third with four losses and Wandin and Upwey are closely matched, with their percentage not showing a huge difference. Woori Yallock won seven and lost seven. It may be behind the other three but still stands a chance in the finals.
Warburton Millgrove makes up the final five. Monbulk finished sixth with six wins and missed out on a finals berth on percentage. Alexandra finished seventh and Healesville brought up the rear.
At the weekend, Mt Evelyn defeated Warburton Millgrove 63-26 in a possible preview of the finals: a significant difference of skills between the top team and No. 5.
Upwey Tecoma beat Healesville 55-16 while Woori Yallock went down to Monbulk by 11 goals.
Finals this week will see Woori Yallock play Warburton Millgrove and Upwey play Wandin.
@BT Sport Sub Mail:DIVISION 2
THE elimination final kicked off with Thornton Eildon determined to make the most of perhaps its lucky final opportunity against Yarra Junction. And it did, winning 39-28. For Thornton Louise Chapple shot 23 goals and Nikki Davison 16. These two goalers have merged well this year and should continue to dominate. For Yarra Junction, Rebecca Osiurak shot 17 and Leiarna Kasso 11. Yarra Junction is now out of the finals race while Thornton will soldier on to play against Emerald.
The qualification final at Olinda was between Emerald and Yea. Both teams showed their skills and proved why they were in the finals. When the siren blew, Emerald was on the back foot, losing by three goals to Yea. For Yea Rhiannon Aldous shot 19 and Cindy Hayes 17. For Emerald, Beverly White shot 13, Kim Walker 12 and Rachel Fox eight. Emerald plays Thornton next week and Yea will go on to face Powelltown.
