IT’S three years since Healesville’s Beechworth Bakery opened its doors adding another drawcard to the town’s popular East End precinct.
Popular with tourists, the bakery has also been embraced as a meeting place for locals.
Manager Matt Schwab has led the Beechworth team of friendly local staff since day one creating an atmosphere which is very much part of their ongoing success.
On the weekend of 5 and 6 September the Healesville community is invited to celebrate another Beechworth Bakery birthday with free family entertainment including face painting and live music.
Sunday is PJ Day so anyone who makes a purchase on that day will receive six free jam donuts.
There will also be free tastings over the weekend.
There are birthday treats for the adults as well. Free bottomless tea and coffee is on offer from 31 August and all week, Beechworth’s famous beesting cake is once again part of the celebration. Buy a delicious beesting and get a second for just 10 cents.
Matt and the staff are looking forward to their third birthday celebrations and particularly the opportunity to share the event with the Healesville community.
Matt said much of the store’s popularity is a result of their community focus.
“We’re not just a take-away bakery store where you get your food and leave,” he said.
“We provide a space where anyone can come and enjoy the food and atmosphere every day.”
The bakery welcomes groups, including bus and school groups, and it’s not unusual to see people pulling two or three tables together for an informal business meeting, or families pulling up a highchair as they get together for a leisurely weekend breakfast. Like so many businesses in Healesville, Beechworth Bakery supports a range of local groups and causes with donations.
Matt said that support is Beechworth’s way of demonstrating that as a local business, they value local input and custom.
“The annual birthday celebration is another way of saying ‘thank you’.
