THE Australian Centre for Mission Aviation (ACMA) wants Yarra Valley families to go a little “MAD” on Saturday September 5.
ACMA will hold its annual Mission Aviation Discovery (MAD) day at Coldstream Airfield starting at 11am with activities to suit all ages.
ACMA spokesperson David Barton said the aim of the day was to build interest in the ministry of mission aviation among the community generally and within the Christian community in particular.
Previous MAD days have generated a huge amount of interest, and this one promises to be even better,” Mr Barton said.
Activities include aerobatic displays by Yak and Winjeel planes and a 1.30pm display by one of the RAAF Roulettes will appeal to aero enthusiasts.
Other drawcards are fixed wine and helicopter joy flights, children’s activities, seminars including one of careers in aviation, music by Carter and Carter, a model aircraft display, flights in a tethered hot air balloon and Mission displays. Flight simulators will be available along with hot food and drinks.
Door prizes including free joy flights will be announced at the main presentations, scheduled for 11.30am and 3.30pm.
Entry to the day is by gold coin donation. Proceeds will be directed to mission aviation training.
