Archers shoot for state gold

YARRA Valley archers have brought home six medals from Archery Victoria’s 2009 State Indoor Championships recently.
The event, held in Morwell over Saturday 25 and Sunday 26 July, included the Australian Indoor Archery Championships.
Six members from the Yarra Valley Archers competed in the State Indoor Championships, coming home with two gold and three silver medals.
Ian Simmonds won gold for Masters’ Longbow, Ros Greig received a silver for Open Women’s Longbow and a gold in Masters’ Barebow Recurve and a third place in Australian Championship for Masters’ Barebow Recurve.
Wyatt Thornton received a silver in under-10 Compound, Ben Bruton received a silver for Intermediate Boys’ Barebow Recurve and a silver medal in the Australian Indoor Championships.
Yarra Valley archers Scott Thornton competed in the Open Men’s Compound and Robert Bruton competed in the Open Men’s Longbow across the weekend.
