Acting storms onto a new stage

STORMING is storming ahead with a new timetable of workshops scheduled to provide opportunities for more people to become involved in public performances.
The workshops in Healesville, Warburton, Yarra Glen and Mooroolbark will set the stage for a series of dynamic public performances in September.
Project organiser Mary-Jane Warfield explained the large-scale public performances are inspired by the work of New York City comedy group Improv Everywhere.
“Storming is essentially a series of non-demanding physical performances where large groups of people assemble in a public space at a set time and perform rehearsed activity,” she said.
“Storming begins unannounced in an outdoor public place with a gradual arrival of performers. What at first appear to be simple formations become more complex as the piece takes shape,” she said. No experience is necessary to join in.
Workshop times are Warburton August 19 and 26, Healesville 20 and 27, Yarra Glen 21 and 28 and Mooroolbark 23 August.
A “Big Rehearsal” will take place on Saturday 29 August with performances schedules for 4, 5 and 6 September. For details contact Ms Warfield 0419 557 721.
